Developing a Technology Based Business:
Entrepreneurship and Intrepreneurship:
.Course Content:
The course will cover the skills needed to be exceptionally successful
in a technical business environment. The content is based on studies of
"Best Practices" of the most effective technical professionals (entrepreneurs
and intrepreneurs). These effective people have a set of "soft skills",
which appear to be more important for ultimate success than one's entire
technical education.
Topics to be covered will include opportunity recognition, market assessment,
entrepreneurship, rules of money (Venture capital), sales, marketing,
relationship management, execution, motivation and leadership. Students
will develop an understanding of the process of business, and some of
the working skills necessary to implement a business idea, to manage a
group, and to sell your ideas.
Class format: Students will gain experience through hands-on assignments,
case studies, and role-plays. Classes are highly interactive. What you
will learn: The secrets to become successful in a technical profession.
You will learn about people, how they really work, and about yourself.
You will learn how to reduce by half the amount of work you have to do,
by being able to understand what is really needed in a situation. You
will also learn how to sell yourself.

The coures is open to all MIT students and faculty, and to students
outside MIT with approval for the instructor.

of simple "people" skills can make you more efficient and effective.
